Nice Marina in Nassau?

Looking for a well priced marina in Nassau.
Doesn't need to be fancy but clean, well run and with good vibes..thank you.

Nassau Harbour Club. Very cruiser friendly.

I second the motion on Nassau Harbour Club. It's the only place we ever go. Typically we run straight across from the Florida Keys and clear customs there on the boat, right at their dock. It's very quick, painless and friendly.
The marina is reasonably secure and there's a shopping center right across the street. There are several decent restaurants and chandleries within easy walking distance. Frequently a number of other cruisers are at the dock who are either coming or going from the Exumas and points south. We once pulled in there with a large, fresh caught Mahi Mahi and had a fish fry with everyone on the dock. Good memories.

ActiveCaptain reviews of Nassau Harbour Club suggest crime is a problem here. Several people robbed.

Crime is an issue everywhere in Nassau. In my experience the Nassau Harbour Club is as safe, or safer, than anywhere else. The marinas on Paradise Island like the Atlantis are more isolated from street people but are considerably more expensive and less cruiser friendly.

Re: Nice Marina in Nassau?

Stayed at the Harbor Club for a week last winter, no problems. Great shopping just across the street and I walked all over town (to the post office twice) no problem. Never felt unsafe.

Stayed 1 night at Atlantis so the kids could play at the water park. Also great, but no shopping nearby. Certainly never felt unsafe. Also the dockmaster told me he could get me propane for $6/lb and that was the best rate in Nassau. Called the local deliver truck showed up in the parking lot and filled my tanks for the regular rate.

The propane truck goes to Nassau Harbour Club every day if needed. $1.50 a pound, never had to pay $6/lb anywhere in the Bahamas.

Sounds like he got a "special price"...wonder what the dockmaster's cut was?

We stayed at Nassau Harbour Club twice last winter. Loved the service for propane and the shopping across the street. Go to Active Captain for ratings on this marina and others nearby.

No one mentioned Yacht Haven. We have always had a great experience there. Close to all. Perhaps it's changed.

Re: Nice Marina in Nassau?

IMO - no reason to stay in a marina in Nassau unless you want to go to Atlantis. Just stay in one of the anchorages for two/three nights and be done with it. There is a free dinghy dock with access to everything.

If you want to go to Atlantis, then splurge on the expensive marina for a night or two because you get "free" passes to Atlantis. The slip at Atlantis for your boat is much cheaper than outright buying two tickets to the resort.
