Hello Everyone,
I am new here and wanted to say hello and introduce myself. We just purchased a1974 36' Gulf Star
Trawler. We had a 27' Bayliner before this so this
boat feels huge to me right now. An old fellow owned this
boat in Minn so it was always in fresh
water until a year ago. He was a
marine engineer and did all sorts of great stuff to the boat to get it ready to
cruise the big loop. Then the poor ole guy had a stoke and his wife made him sell the boat. The boat was moved to the panhandle of
Florida and was used as a
live aboard at a marina this past year. She is in very good shape except for cosmetics. We have been working on the
interior, new
cushions and drapes and such as well and
cleaning and waxing the exterior. The trimwood needs some
cleaning up and oiling too.
We are going to stay here on the boat in northwestern Fla and
work on her for the next 3 weeks then
cruise her over to
Carrabelle, then down to Clearwater for a short break before heading to Islamorada in the Keys.
Anyone ever go around the big bend here in the panhandle?
It should be an exciting trip. We are getting up there in age and we are glad we have this time when we have the
health and energy to take on one last big adventure.
Life on the Float is great!
