Re: First Month Cruising Costs
Just a quick thought - I'm 56 and have sold everything and am out cruising. If you haven't you can not possibility say what I do far as cruising is wrong!

Did someone say you were wrong? I don't read some of the long winded BS.
It may be envy that criticizes. I hope you are making plans for when you can no longer cruise time flies the older you get. I have a son older than you.
Best of luck.

Sure we can!
Your in the local area and picked one of the worst inner city marinas to stay at while bypassing quaint little towns with nice marinas like Deltaville, Cape Charles, Onancock, etc or Anchoring at places with beautiful views like Kiptopeke, or even Willoughby Bay which is about a mile from where you stayed and just North of Naval Station Norfolk.
Maybe your CF buddies can assist with that though for your next stop further south

Re: First Month Cruising Costs
As a sailor you should know the answer to that, when we cannot actually be sailing we like to talk about it. And I'm still doing my cruising research .....
It's Human Nature same as cruisers that could be sailing would rather be on the internet talking about it
Also, I didn't see you at Kiptopeke on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. So I know you weren't there. It was just me, two big cruising cats, clear skies, bright moon, and lots of current
As far as the little boat world comment (and doing one's research), let's see who's boat is on the Mahina List of Recommended Offshore Boats. Looks like my little boat world Bristol 27 is there but not your Hunter Condo

Re: First Month Cruising Costs
That sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder with the zip it. I am assuming who it was directed at and it was inappropriate for his comment.
The boating community is about the friendliest you will find.
You also got your shorts in a wad over the nights and price of berthing. I was one of the several that may have misread it, or maybe it was phrased badly?
No big deal one way or the other. Life is to short to get ulcers over the little ****. JMHO

Re: First Month Cruising Costs
If you can get 4 nights in a marina for $63 you won't have a problem with your budget.

Apparently not! Even positive comments seem to be taken wrong. That's a shame.
I just apologized for one I apparently phrase badly.

I think the word is wannabe.
I don't wannabe docked at a marina like you are doing. I don't wannabe motoring down the ICW with the snowbirds since I've already done many miles of that at night without wind or an engine dodging barges and on power boats
You are on your first boat and your first cruise. You are staying away from the big water of which I am glad.
If I ever do go South, I'm going on the outside down to Cape Lookout and into Beaufort Inlet of which I am familiar. I'm not going to motor down some ditch.....
I'll pick a 5 day window with forecasted North winds etc.....and if I get into trouble I'll attempt to go thru one of the dangerous inlets with my 4' draft between here and there

Re: First Month Cruising Costs
Proves you know nothing of my boat ownership or my sailing experience. Just as an example tomorrow with be the 4 day total I've ever been at a dock in 8 years. Please move on to someone else to annoy.
