Re: Cockpit Grass

Wow, a very creative way to block your cockpit drains!

Re: Cockpit Grass

Thought I’d share an update....
A year later, still loving the grass. Had to scrub a couple of times and brush it for cleaning and fluff the matted hairs once in a while, but overall still easy and still comfy.

The new pic I have looks pretty close to the one I posted a year ago.

Re: Cockpit Grass

The grass has finally been tossed. We found the biggest enemy is rain. It gets wet and doesn’t dry well. So we had it rolled away for most of Malaysia because it rained some everyday. We eventually got rid of it. It would be nice here in Thailand and was nice in Australia through Indonesia, but not in rainy climates.

These are the kind of boats that collect in the kind of marinas I stay FAR away from.
You're a pleasant sort, aren't you? If someone else likes it, what should you care?

Unless of course, you are one of those entitled my nose must be your business types because you are obviously so much better.

Have a nice day and a pleasant day

Seriously, your response is way over the top!

Just saw that responce was very old. Oh well.

It’s usually best to ignore and not respond to the fringe

Re: Cockpit Grass

In my teens I received an old rust floored 59' VW bug. So rotten welding was a big job. Wire wheeled then glued down 1/2" ply with polyester resin thickened with asbestos. I had a huge roll of astroturf so did the entire floor and up the sides.
It looked fantastic, quick and funny as hell. In the back seat was a little putter and ball for entertainment.

I don't think I'll be hiring you to redecorate the interior of my boat, Chris!

Not that there's anything wrong with the idea, but then Ann would be nagging me to mow the saloon sole all the time!

J, I don't think hiring me is a good idea but I could consult for free if that helps. That turf grows slowly so nagging would be minimal.

I had considered on one vessel to do an entire what I called the "basement" in the stuff. Owner overruled. The space was systems, wet and dry storage, tools, pantry etc. I wanted to do all the floor, walls, lockers, and shelves. Keeps condensation, chafe and most important noise levels down. There are lots of colors and qualities available. Relatively inexpensive , easy to work with, glues well, wears well and forms easily. You can pressure wash the stuff.
I had only planned to make it an executive or short course.
