We will definitely get past Annapolis before the crowd of "showtimes" and we try to miss the trawlerfest at Solomons too. We'll keep a watch for you. Is "gettingthere" the boat name?

I know you are watching the weather with the 2 hurricanes in the Atlantic.

Do you go on the outside or will you sail down the chesapeake and into the ICW? Just curious. I cross the ICW everyday at the first bridge after mile marker "0". Traffic heading south is picking up.....

Maybe I can buy you that beer I promised after our Tiller-Wheel discussion on Liveaboard......Cutty Sark here at little creek inlet is a great stop before hitting the HRBT and ICW.

Thanks, Cruiser2B! I guess you're crossing the Gilmerton since the Jordan Lift Bridge is out. We'll most likely stop at the High Street Landing in Portsmouth before heading into the Dismal Swamp,- and Yes! We will be "cockpit potatos" poking along the ICW with just the best fair weather jumps off the coast. We're heading to Atlanic City Tomorrow off shore and then waiting for some foul weather to get by before Cape May and up the Delaware to the C&D for the Chesapeake.

CaptForce - great to find you again! I had not been on the LivingAboard forum for a while and was bewildered to find it GONE! Sometimes we get complacent and assume all the good stuff will be around forever. I am slowly catching up, and in fact may be living aboard again soon. Will start out in Florida and see which way the wind blows. My wife and I need to work, though we can survive on less than huge salaries. Will watch for your posts!

CF,How is the current in the St. Johms River? I am thinking of taking Scallywag to Green Cove Springs. Scallywag has a weak deisel. What do I need to know? I know the river runs North.

I'd choose to watch the current tables for the trip to Jacksonville with the current often up to 1.8kts, but south of Jacksonville the river opens up wide and the current becomes far weaker. Are you going to Green Cove to leave the vessel on the hard for a season? If so, good choice. If you're looking for a place to dock, sail and enjoy the river I suggest you look at Fleming Island Marina in Orange Park,- quick access to open sailing and a friendly, casual place.

Gotta watch those folks at Fleming island, though. They let in all sorts.

CaptForce is Fleming Island's chief pimp.

Thanks CaptForce. I am thinking of moving Scallywag in the Spring 2013. I hope to head South after Christmas. I am very familiar with Fleming Island Marina. There are nice people there. I go back to Whitney's Marina. Nice facility.
