Re: Anyone ever rent a room?

I have a seen this done in areas like Key West. My guess it will be very hard to find a quality tenant attracted to this idea. Maybe try an air B&B.

Re: Anyone ever rent a room?

Would take a pretty impressive cabin on a boat where renting it could "cover" mooring/berth costs. Guess on a real large boat someone would be willing, but of course if you owned a boat that big you probably don't any cabin rental money.

Re: Anyone ever Rent a Room?

For me personally renting a cabin would be akin to renting a corner of my bedroom. And if I couldn't afford that bedroom without such a border I'd probably move to a smaller more affordable place.

Re: Anyone ever Rent a Room?

Pupil2prodigy,

No one who cares very much about their boat wants to invite strangers into it on a rental property basis. It's only in my experience, but most people who are drawn to sailboats also treasure their personal space.....and that's where becoming a landlord of say, the skipper's cabin, the most desirable crash pad on a boat, becomes, er, tenuous. Also there's the issue of compatibility of someone who needs a crash pad. Then there are liability issues, as well as comfort zone issues. So, no, better to let your flat, than your boat.
