Re: Shipping a 44' sailboat NY to San Francisco

What is the beam?
What is the height (keel to highest point on deck)?

Over 8' wide is a wide load but not a huge issue.
Over 10' wide typically needs chase vehicles (depends on state for exact width).
Over 16' typically a no-go.

Height is critical as many bridges are limited to 13' clearance, though there are often alternative routes. Even new bridges typically provide only 16' clearance.

If you exceed these, shipping by freighter becomes the preferred option but price goes up.

Re: Shipping a 44' sailboat NY to San Francisco

Check out J Daniels Marine transport. Shipped my 47' sailboat with 13'9" beam and 13' height from Alameda, CA to New Orleans, Louisiana for $8500. They were awesome to work with and would use them again without hesitation. Svendsens did the shipping prep, $1500 I believe, and was done every well.
