Insurance in Thailand or Malaysia

Hi everyone

We are looking at buying a yacht which is in Thailand at the moment. I have found some threads on this forum very helpful on the subject of insurance while living aboard, but we will also need some insurance when we first buy the boat just to keep it in the marina and on the hardstand while we do some work on it, before we can set sail. I think we will want full coverage (not just third party), as we will not always be able to be with the boat.

Does anyone have any recommended insurance companies or insurance brokers to use while the yacht is in the marina or on the hardstand?

I'm guessing we will change our policy once we start actually blue water cruising.

Thanks for your help.

I would suggest having a chat with the guys from Lambert Brothers ( Insurance )

They know the region - and book most of their business via the Hong Kong Office ( although i think they also now have an office in Phuket as well )

This contact will get you going

I insure with QBE they are an Aussie company with an office here.. When i was hit by lightning they were very good about it and even sent a surveyor to the Island where we live...
They have agents in Phuket and Pattaya. I found them very reasonable...

I would like to ask to OP to report back what you have learned on this subject. Lots of good info here! I hope I can hear numbers...
