Beds on board , renting your boat for accomodation

HI ,
Has anyone used beds on board, ie rented their boats for guests to stay
as a floating hotel room?

I am curios about it,but fearful of blocked heads and damage/cleaning etc.

Just wondering if anyone has any real life experience of it?

Cheers
Steven.

Hey Steven,

Those sound like reasonable enough fears to me! I suppose you could charge hefty enough deposits to your "guests" to cover what could amount to real damage if systems aren't used correctly. After all, it's not a hotel.

Re: Beds on board , renting your boat for accomodation

Hi Steven
I am the co-founder of Beds on Board and I would be very happy to discuss this with you further. We now have hundreds of boats listed in over 40 Countries that have been taking bookings for over a year now.

To quickly answer your questions;
1. We always recommend a thorough hand over which would include correct usage of the toilets. We encourage owners to ask guests to use the marina facilities when possible.
2. The site allows you to set a security deposit which could be used to cover the cost of incorrect use of the toilets or any other damage. (we do provide personal accident cover for the guests as part of the service)
3. The site allows you to set a cleaning charge but our experience shows its better to included this in the rental price and ask that guests leave the boat as they found it. By not detailing a cleaning fee the guests do tidy up rather than leave it to the cleaners.
4. We have a network of agents in marinas that can help with cleaning, laundry and even meet and greet services.

All in all the service is proving a huge success for owners and guests. Owners are enjoying the income provided and guests are enjoying staying on boats in amazing locations.

I would be happy to talk more, please email me at jason@bedsonboard.com and we can arrange a call. I can also introduce you to some owners who would be able to tell you there thoughts on the service.

I hope this helps and I hope to speak to you soon

Best wishes

Jason

Kudos to Jason for stepping up to the plate and answering the concerns head-on. I'm not really in the market to rent a boat to or from anyone, but it's an interesting concept and I appreciate hearing the details on how it works.

I have rented my boat for years and it has been great! Guests are not allowed to use porta potty unless they dump it and clean it out or they forfeit a 200 deposit.
