Re: Wanted 1/2” Turnbuckles

I have a handful of turnbuckles, all left over from a project. I think there's a picture of one under my ad for the Harlem Mk4 roller furler.

Rog, if you're wanting them for anything critical, you should know that not all turnbuckles are created equal.

Turnbuckles that are made by cutting the threads into the shaft with a sharp die are cheaper, but can form micro-cracks at the bottoms of the threads, & the cyclic loads of sailboats can cause those cracks to propagate across the shaft over time.

Much better are "rolled" threads, where the threads are made by mashing the rod between 2 grooved plates, & then sliding those plates (& rolling the shaft) to create the threads.

I show how to easily tell which sort of turnbuckle you have, & go into more detail, on my Turnbuckles page.
