Los Angeles, CA: Beta 16 hp Marine diesel w/ transmission (114 hours)

Price: $4900
Location: Southern California

I'll be pulling a Beta 16 engine w/ 114 hours from a Catalina 30 in Long Beach, CA. It's the heat exchanger model and is in great condition. The boat's owner (friend of mine) decided he preferred an outboard.

Electric control panel and some spares are included. I can also include the rest of the supporting hardware such as fuel lines, filter, exhaust as well as shaft + propeller.

I've checked and the transmission is the TechnoDrive / Twin Disk TMC40 with a 2.00:1 ratio

Sure, I'll get some photos and more information about it's age when I'm with the boat next week.

Re: Los Angeles, CA: Beta 16 hp Marine diesel w/ transmission (114 hours)

The engine was manufactured in November 2010 and installed in 2011 if I recall correctly from the documentation. It's in great shape and ready to get dropped into it's next home. It actually has 108 hours, not 114. Some photos:

I bought on here a beta kubota 38hp 4cylinder 2009 model low hours with exhaust and wire harness and control panel for $3400 with low hours your smaller 16hp 2 cylinder should be around $2,000? it still is 12 years old?

No, I've sold plenty on here before but never this engine as it was just removed from the donor vessel last month.

Sounds like you got a great deal on that 38hp. My pricing is based on what similar setups are selling for on ebay and other outlets. Feel free to make a reasonable offer

Do you know if that model has the same footprint as the Volvo MD6A or 7A? I THINK it does, but not sure.

Hi Don -

I know they are similar and it's a reasonably common swap, I don't believe you'll need to rebuild the bed, possibly just use blocks to get the right height. Here is a thread I dug up on the topic:

Let me know if you'd like any measurements
