Looking for a rare boat can someone help

Hello, my name is Matt, and my wife Ali and I are looking for a Cabo Rico Northeast 400 Pilothouse. It is a 40 ft. sloop, and only 28 were produced.
We would like to hopefully find someone who currently owns one to get their advice and opinion about this particular boat. This would be very helpful in making the decision on purchasing one.
We look forward to hearing from someone out there.
Thank you,
Matt and Ali,

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

How much sailing experience do you have?
I’m in SD if you ever want to go for a Daysail let me know by PM.

Thank you very much for your reply. I intend to go on the link to update my profile.
We have been sailing for 2 years now, and we definitely would be interested in a day sail with you.
I only came across 2 boats for sail and they were both purchased.
If you don't mind could you please let me know where you saw the three boats you mentioned?
Thank you again,
Matt

Terrific boats, was thinking about buying the only one that was exported to the UK but it sold a week before we wanted to see it. Be aware that interiors are not identical.

Re: Looking for a rare boat can someone help

I was wrong, it looks like there are at least 4 for sale. Comes from doing searches on my phone at work I guess. Oh well, hope you can forgive me.

Re: Looking for a rare boat can someone help

My wife and I lived on hull 25 (Chanticleer. believed to be the last one built in 2005), for five years. Starting in the USA, then over to the UK (7 months in St Katherine Docks, London) and throughout Western Europe, up into the Baltic and then down through the canals to the Mediterranean and back to the Netherlands where she was sold. At last count there were two NE400 in Europe.
It is a magnificent design, beautifully built, sails brilliantly (tall rig), has great lines even with the mast down. The ultimate live-aboard yacht of her size. Mark Ellis, the designer even owns one himself! Good luck with your search, if you buy one you will absolutely love it. Cheers Nigel

The NE400 group contact: ne400@googlegroups.com

If you Google Cabo Rico NE400 there are many photos ... Chanticleer was originally called Moon River she's there in all her glory!

Northeast 400

Looking for one - have a year or so to locate, view, buy and outfit.
What a great yacht, no wonder they never/rarely come up for sale.
Hope you found yours. I'd love to know how she sails and points and backs up ;-)

Thanks!
Maura

Hi Maura,

Check my post ... we sold Chanticleer in The Netherlands in 2021.

Then check yachtworld.com they come up for sale occasionally

The NE400 group might be able to help:

ne400@googlegroups.com

Good luck, our post says it all!
