KBW20 transmission or parts

Hi everyone,

I am presently located in Grenada, my 1989 Yanmar 4JHBE has a Kanzaki KBW20 transmission which is showing signs of corrosion at the transmission oil cooler elbow.

I'm pretty sure the problem is corrosion/pitting on the aluminum housing as the elbow itself is bronze ...

I hope this photo of the particular unit I have will attach to the thread ...

I'm looking for a new transmission housing or a replacement transmission like mine in good working order ... I can arrange shipping out of the USA to Grenada.

Standing-by for anyone who can offer a possible source for new or good condition transmission housing or a replacement transmission ...

Thanks everyone !

Re: KBW20 transmission or parts

Cannot tell from pic. Can it be retapped (deeper as pipe threads are tapered) and install a new elbow? Aluminum elbows are available.

Re: KBW20 transmission or parts

Thanks for the suggestion,

Pic attached of what it looks like from below where I have picked away "brittle" aluminum.

I believe tranny would have to be removed, stripped apart to allow some welding where the aluminum appears to be porous ... then grind / machine / file a new gasket face and re use the existing bronze elbow ...

However if there is a housing in good shape somewhere I could move the guts across and avoid having to weld etc ...
