Best Water Transfer System

The Ultimate Cruising Sailboat Water Solution

One of the most difficult problems for blue water cruisers is getting water. Unless you have a water maker (and it's working properly), you are destined to "jerry jug" water in 5 gal. containers from the dock/shore into your dingy and back to the boat. Then, with the dingy banging into the side of the boat's hull, you need to lift approx. 42 lbs. per 5 gal. container -- chest high -- to the boat's deck, then repeat the process pouring the water into the deck mounted water inlet. If there are any waves, this is a difficult procedure best. If you aren't a bodybuilder, it's a two-person job.

On s/v Flying Cloud we came up with a simplistic system that worked perfectly through 17,000 miles of sailing, including the South Pacific where marinas and water supplies are very rare. We would bring the dingy up to the local dock (or land if a water point was near by), run our garden hose to the spigot and gravity flow the water back to our 30 gal. Aquatank bladder, which fit perfectly in the floor of a ten-foot dingy. Once back to the boat, we hooked up the 12v power to the transfer pump which rests on the dingy's seat, and simply pumped the water up to the deck spigot. You can also rig a water filter inline for extra insurance. It takes about 8 minutes to pump the water, then back to the dock for another load. In relatively short time you can transfer 90 gals with no wear and tear on your body or the boat.

Other cruisers who saw our set-up said it was the best solution they'd seen for long distance cruising.

We are selling our water transfer system which includes the following:

Shurflo Pro Baitmaster II 4.0 gpm transfer pump (with waterproof on/off switch) and mounted on a piece of 12" x 7" cherry)
15 ft. 12v power cord 12 AWG (with cigarette lighter plug)
4 ft. inlet and 8 ft outlet hose with fittings
30 gal. Aquatank water bladder

List cost for these items is approx. $400. I am selling for $140 plus shipping. Please contact me at walterconner gmail or go to my eBay page where I have hundreds of boat items for sale left over from our 17,000 mile passage to Australia at https://www.ebay.com/usr/w*conner?_t...p2047675.l2559

Thanks,

Walter Conner
