For Sale: 2QM Yanmar engine (likely for parts)

Cheers friends we are replacing our 2QM with a different engine. I have a very very detailed log of the maintenance and behavior of the engine. It has a brand new water pump and starter with only 1 start under its belt. The gear driven water pump is yanmar new around $1300 US and the starter was around 3 hundred of great quality. The last few weeks we have had issues switching gears, eventually only able to use the engine in forward (yes that includes a few starts in gear).

With travel goals in mind we found a cheap 2gm20f and will continue our trip with that. The 2QM's transmission is messed up beyond our capabilities of repair but I have detailed videos and notes in the log of it running, and then not.

This is *not the 2QM20* although many many many parts are interchangeable as the 2qm15 and 2qm15 are the same with bigger pistons. This is an 8 HP engine which we track uses 0.31 gal/hour on our 37', 12,000lb boat; it pushes us along at 4.5 knots ~80% throttle. Rated at 8hp/1800 rpm with a 2.20 gear reduction. The fuel lines are those rigid ones which are definitely niche so using this one for parts is likely it's best next life.

Again the water pump, starter are new, the heat exchanger works great (evidence of a leak but monitoring continuously for over 500 engine hours we never had to add coolant), the 35A alternator rocks, the whole fuel system is great, the exhaust loop and elbow is all new as of 100 hours ago. Detailed log will accompany it with all products used for maintenance.

Open to all offers. We are located near Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC (in Ucluelet). We hope someone can rebuild the transmission or use the bulk of it to continue the life of their own 2QM.

Update: ended up sending it off to engine heaven. Scrapped all the old parts off, heat exchanger, water pump, starter, exhaust, even the exhaust manifold. Just in case we run into a 2qm owner in need out there in the big blue!
