The prop was donated to our club. I don't have it in my possession yet, but perhaps Tuesday, I will have it and can give you particulars. I understand they sell new for $2,800.00. We will be well below 1/2 of that. Thank so much for for your interest. Please stay tuned.

Re: 17" Veriprop 2-Blade

This is a self-feathering Veriprop Model DF-80-2. It is a 17", 2-blade model and the hole for the shaft looks to be 1/2". However it appears that the part encircling the shaft hole is removable and could be machined to a larger shaft hole or that part purchased from Veriprop. The entire prop assembly looks new as if it has never been under water. Please reply if interested. I will try to answer questions and would entertain all offers.
Thanks for your interest,
Ron

The prop hub bore cannot be 1/2" an inch, as that is a nonexistent shaft diameter.

Re: 17" Veriprop 2-Blade

My friend, there is a 1/2" hole on the back side of this prop. It seemed to me that's for the prop shaft. Or do these type of folding props have a connector apparatus of some sort that bolts to the prop and then to the prop shaft? Variprop's website is not very telling about these things. Can you help?

How wide is the bore on the other end of the hub?

The center of the prop facing aft, comes to a point...no hole. The end of the prop facing forward as when mounted on a shaft has the 1/2" hole in the center of a larger round flat piece about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. A picture will be worth 1,000 words. I will try to post one tomorrow.

Re: 17" Veriprop 2-Blade

That must be one ancient Variprop. They haven't looked like that in a long time.

Regarding the hub bore- it does appear tiny. I suggest measuring it with a slide caliper. It may be a metric size. Guesstimating the hub bore isn't going to get that thing sold. Again, there are no SAE shafts in a 1/2" diameter. That simply doesn't exist. The smallest SAE shaft is 3/4". The smallest metric shaft size is 20mm, which is actually slightly larger than 3/4". Further, the Variprop web site shows that the smallest hub bore the DF-80 is available in is 20mm & 3/4".

Re: 17" Veriprop 2-Blade

Well, I don't have a slide caliper, but the hole is definitely not 3/4". It is very close to 1/2". A 1/2" drill bit fits with very little wiggle room; maybe 1/100" perhaps 2 at most. I'm sure a good machine shop could make it 3/4" or larger.
Thanks so much for your information. Do you have any advice for me other getting an exact measurement of the hole? I do have a friend that owned a machine shop and still dabbles. He can probably make the hole larger. It sounds as though there is a limited market for this prop. For as you can see from the pics, it looks great, feathers freely, and the only marks on it are from fingerprints. I really don't think it was ever in the water.

Re: 17" Veriprop 2-Blade

A slide caliper can be bought for a couple of bucks at any hardware store. And while it may be possible to enlarge the bore, my guess is that it would be a job for a well equipped expert, not for someone who used to own a shop but "still dabbles." The bore is tapered, it is not a straight hole.

Looking at that prop hub, I'd guess it was sold as a blank to be machined and fit at a machine shop when building a shaft and coupling combo.

I bet you're right. I didn't notice until you mentioned it, but the bore has no key way.
