Re: Sea of Cortez: Best of

My favorite way to fish in the Sea of Cortez was to kayak to the beach and pick out my fresh fish from the fishermen. They would filet it, cut it in steaks or just clean it whole. Win-win for both sides. Less messy too!

Yeah, done that too. Did it once though and they talked me into some kind of shark... That evening when we cooked it, it turned to a jelly like substance! Inedible....
I did trade a pack of Lucky Strikes and 3/4 of a Banana Bread to a shrimper once for a whole bucket of Prawns!

Sea of Cortez: Best of

Wow. I should have carried cigarettes. We often gave batteries & candy for his kids to our fish guy in Santa Maria. We gave some worn dock lines and the guy looked like we gave him a prize. We stayed there while we waited out a storm for 7 days eating lobster. Yeah, sailing back up was not so bad that way. 😜

We paid for a bucket of prawns (most still crawling around & so big I was afraid) in Mag Bay on Christmas Eve. I had seen them the day before sitting with lady friends on the beach looking out at us. I hoped they were going to get gifts for the ladies but knowing men, they were thinking of a bigger boat. ⛵️ LOL

No,it's true! I once caught a 2 footer that doubled in size by the time I told my friends about it.
