Third party insurance in Australia

Recently our insurance broker has been tightening up restrictions, like coverage in Queensland and Tasmania.

We are reviewing our insurance cover, and realised we only want third person property and person insurance, we can afford to cover a loss of the boat, our main requirement is having enough cover for damage to others and staying in a marina.

Going through the online quotes I can’t find any insurer prepared to give third party cover to a keelboat. Does anyone out there have a different experience?

Yep, hard to find and some of the marinas are now demanding comprehensive.

Try Pantaneus they do third party. I have a friend who has third party that costs almost as much as my comprehensive through Topsail.
Cheers

I am looking for comprehensive but only for now while she is on the hard in COOMERA QLD. As soon as she goes back in the water I activate her regular marine coverage.

I had to do this quickly and from overseas (NO SURVEY!) so I won't vouch for the price/value but Trident Marine cover me for Third Party for my 1976 Tasman 26, swinging on a mooring, for $385 p.a. https://tridentmarine.com.au/

Re: Third party insurance in Australia

I recommend the 3rd party that includes wreck removal. That could be a huge cost of you sank in a marina. We needed a survey to get it, due to the yachts age. (33 years)

Third party property damage AND WRECK REMOVAL.

The last one will also bankrupt you if it is not included with the others.

Re: Third party insurance in Australia

Recently Edward William Marine appeared to step out of the market when their backers Northern Fleet were going into financial collapse. I have been informed that Northern Fleet has been given a life line and Edward William are back in business as an agent for them. Also D & G Marine may help (Australian company)

I also understand that a) a survey is not required and b) they will also cover for the two (specific to Queensland) conditions of wreck removal and pollution clean up.

contact DG Marine on the Sunshine Coast 0438563164
can arrange TP + salvage and wreck removal OR TP on it's own.

Re: Third party insurance in Australia

Bilge water I always laugh when people mention Northern Reef. Sure they insure you but I personally know one case where the owner had to pay for his own slavage costs and never saw a cent from Northern Reef.
Tom Thumb that seems a terrible price for third party insurance. For an extra $600 (an extra $12 a week) I got comprehensive, agreed value insurance on my 32 foot yacht from Topsail.
PaulBCK I thought YOUI has got out of insuring boats kept in the water?
Cheers

Do you know why NR didn't pay the cost of salvage?
