Wallas/Espar/etc heater placement and venting on a mono

We're on Lake Superior; it's sometimes cold at anchor even in the summer.

I would like to install a Wallas heater but am struggling to figure out a reasonable location for it. If vented through the side of the hull it must be 12" below the deck yet above the waterline on a full heel, which essentially rules this out. If vented through the stern, duct runs to the forward cabin are impracticably long. Venting through the deck near the chainplates would place the vent out of the way of feet but would involve an unsightly exhaust run through the saloon as well as giving up particularly valuable locker space.

Competing diesel heaters have similar if not more demanding placement and space requirements.

I would like to make this work but am unsure of the way forward. Advice welcome.

Re: Wallas/Espar/etc heater placement and venting on a mono

For cold summer and fall evenings on Lake Superior I was going to suggest installing and exhausting towards stern then bringing vent as far forward (and low) as practical and using fans to circulate forward which may or may not work on your 38 fter. (works with my Planar heater on my 30 fter without fans).
But then thought there are units that are hydronic and have forced air. Or maybe just hydronic. Understand very efficient way to heat.
Many experienced, cold weather liveaboards use and are happy with their inexpensive chinese heaters.

Not sure I want to give up sushi night for ramen noodles for the next 3 years but maybe that's the best way forward

Maybe can cook your Ramen noodles with hydronic heater!

Think? I have read that the inexpensive Chinese hydronic heaters, while not readily offered
on Amazon etc. were listed on Alibaba or Ali express. Not sure as have never been to those sites.

Hey Jammer
I had webasto, espar hydronic, wallas, planar, and now one of the chinese ones
That is my latest and it is relatively small really like it
I built it into my bunk in the main cabin went through the wall into the bathroom and vented out the top through an old wall cabin propane heater chimney vent
works perfectly
before:all other systems were in the cockpit bin
as high as possible venting outside through the stern the ducting exited at the front of the engine compartment enclosure
Your V berth will be quite a ways from the heater
So a midship mount may be better for you , for me . I like a colder sleeping V berth quarter
Make sure your new heater does not have too much over capacity, since the ignition systems clog up on lower settings
My latest ($175) chinese planar always runs flat out
