Only..... liferaft service, new genoa, new batts for epirb, new gen set.... and a bit of other stuff like renew radio grounds, fix a few more deck leaks and a few more unknowns and we are set to go....

Nearly set to go .

First, if you have joined any lines together to hold you snugly, you need to cut the seizing on the double sheet bends or cut off the Carricks completely if they have been under load .

Luckily its well sheltered... tied up in Antofagasta last year the constant surge and the on off loading on my two big nylon multiplait headlines ( eyes led through serious bits of hose) led to the eyes actually going solid...

I put the saloon table back in yesterday ( ok the leaves still have to be attached).... so life slowly gets more civilized...

Only been back in the water 3 months and hope to go sailing one day soon....

Today was a positive day ... we have our ups... we have pisco sour for that .... we have our downs ... thats why they invented rum...

I took the Pingmobile out for a spin today... first time for both of us in 11 months. Only under #2 jib with the sail cover on the main.

Engine worked, sail worked, autopilot clutch slipping, didn't crash going back into the pen.

Didn't raise the main .... it had been to a loft for tidying up.... when I went to put the battens in and reeve the reefing pennants I found that the slugs were jamming in the track.... I think they were put on by an apprentice late on a Friday afternoon.

Most other stuff now sorted... I have a saloon table I can have a decent sit down feed at, the new dodger was fitted yesterday... first time I have been able to see through it in a very long time.

Not much to do now ...re-upholster focsle, service winches and windlass, liferaft survey, new genoa, bit of a drama getting gas bottles tested but that should be sorted this week. I'll start storing ship in August.

So.. we arrived back in and cracked a bottle of Pisco Sour I have been saving since leaving Anto 14 months ago.

Haven't had any Pisco in years... remember a Peruvian family that served a Pisco Punch that, well, Punched! That beverage is right up there with Slivovitch in its variation between pretty good to toxic.

PS Bruce has had enough of Tassie winter and left today for the mainland, ostensibly for a medical checkup for the Admiral. We know better....

Almost done..... pick up liferaft, order genoa, service windlass, paint out the garden shed, fix a leak on a hard to get at fitting under the cowl.... trying hard to avoid that last one... big job for one small leak that only leaks in v heavy weather.

And then of course there is the focsle.......
Its always been a condensation hotspot. previously just foam backed vinyl over plywood panels on the deckhead and foam backed vinyl on the ships side.... crew have been known to sleep on deck in 5*C weather rather than sleep up there....
So... having had good results elsewhere on the boat I'm glueing 6mm closed cell foam camping mat material on the deckhead and putting new panels over that... already up at the after end. The ship's side is going to get 10mm foil backed camping mats cut to fit. Final part of the business ( which just involves 'double glazing' the ports and hatch) will be done when required.
The cabin side...grayish bit in second pic was a bit of an issue...hard to get a semi decent finish there... so that is a carpetty sort of a thing... looks good... shall probably just tape foam over that when needed.
Should be finished by the weekend... still have to buy the foil backed mats
