Re: Smoothest application of bottom paint short of spraying

I use a thin yellow 7" foam roller (same as for epoxy). Depending on the paint I may use brush ease or xylene to thin if necessary. Quick short overlapping strokes, no going back over a recently done area. PPG ABC3 goes on smoothly with no thinning required. I keep a cover on the pan between roller dips to prevent the paint from thickening.

Baltoplate, sand to 400, polish with bronze wool for a very fast bottom.

Coppercoat requires burnishing to release the biocide. I know what you're going to say... "Coppercoat is not a paint." Regardless...

For our super smooth bottom we applied with epoxy foam rollers over a sanded (super smooth) substrate. Then sanded/burnished with 320 grit.

Thanks everyone, will order some paint and rollers and play around with this. I'll let you know what produces the best results.
