redoing refrigerator

i have a pearson 424 and i am upgrading the icebox/refrigerator. i have cut into the top an opening for a freezer and will be adding a small freeze (about 2 sq ft) . the rest is to be a refrigerator about 6 sq ft for a total of about 8 sq ft.

i have left open the top of the side panel for cold air to escape into the frig. i plan on putting the cold plate or evaporator into the freezer and let the cold air migrate towards the refer area. i am looking at a cool blue system. what is the best solution/system. i will be cruising to the bahamas and maybe further south
thanks

Re: redoing refrigerator

Hi SD,
May I suggest you contact Rich Boren owner of: Technautic CoolBlue Refrigeration.
Rich will correctly evaluate your cabinets needs and advise you on an appropriate system. You intend heading into warmer climates so a substantial, properly engineered system will be required. Provide Rich with the interior dimensions of the fridge and freezer areas, the wall thickness and the cabinet interior lining *material.. (*Is it metal or non conductive like plastic or F/glass.) You can PM Rich here as SV THIRD DAY .

Re: redoing refrigerator

Getting professional assistance in the design phase is good, but I didn't have that available, so I winged it. Put in 4"+ of rigid foam insulation (couldn't get polyurethane, so used fine-grained blue Styrofoam). Bought an evaporator that's wrapped in a box, put a bottom on it, & mounted it vertically, then wrapped it in a thin layer of insulation. What's inside the evaporator freezes solid, & the rest of the box stays cold but doesn't freeze the lettuce. That was 17 years ago, & the system is still working well (although I had to replace the evaporator last year). It makes for a very small freezer, so it generally only gets boneless meat, but it holds ~20 pounds.

Re: redoing refrigerator

Maybe you should read the Adler Barbour Installation and Operating Manual as I think you'd find it helpful. (It is online if you google it).
