pirate Prime EXample re buying an older boaty

2years ago I bought a 1990 beneteau 41S5. It was 30 years old and 2 prior owner, both lawyers. I have been working on it since. 3 weeks ago after coming back from the boatyard wherein I had "Dropped" almost $7000 on bottom job and all new hull plumbing I noticed a diesel smell. Checking under the engine sure enough there was lotsa diesel in the pan (maybe a pint). Detailed searching and checking revealed that the fuel return line was leaking !!! It was leaking at a low point where fuel was probably sitting for past 30 years!!!Of course it was european metric fittings on the line and not easily obtainable. After 3 days searching I finally was able to reuse the original fitting and make a new line. Older boats typically have issues like this.
