I always have and it wouldn’t fill the tiny pits in the fiberglass. The deck wax took care of that.

Re: Polish and wax non-skid deck

Our decks were severely oxidized and chalky when we bought the boat, it was very hard to get stains off and our soles became white when we walked on them.

This past spring I used the methods and materials used in the following video down to the T, it took me 4 days of hard work but the decks look like new, I never thought they could get to the appearance they have now, and believe it or not the decks are less slippery than before as there is no more liquid chalk when it’s wet, also, the wax doesn’t let water sit on them for long.

But input about waxing non skid is appreciated
For protecting it, I think a coat of Awlgrip topcoat will work much better

Re: Polish and wax non-skid deck

I've been using Aurora Sure Step.

Seems to help cleaning the deck afterwards.

Re: Polish and wax non-skid deck

Another strong vote for Woody Wax. I have used it on several boats now, I apply as directed, but use a nylon brush and really scrub it, leave it on over nite and do the same thing the next day, then rinse and buff dry.

Re: Polish and wax non-skid deck

In the ‘wax/no wax’ discussion , it’s worth mentioning the UV and acid rain protection that boat wax (like Woody) provides.

In the south - I see so many fiberglass surfaces (smooth and non skid) fade and deteriorate in the powerful sun. It is easily avoided with regular washing with a high end wash/wax

Don’t , just clean it. It’s supposed to be non slip.

The best I've seen is a buffing brush https://shurhold.com/products/dap-sc...BoC1WMQAvD_BwE on a random orbital sander for both the polish and the wax application.
I like to use West Marine Star Brite. Easy to put on and helps the deck stay clean.

I have tried Woody Wax as well. More expensive and not as good as StarBrite.
