Placing Screws in GRP: advice sought.

I rebidded my traveler rail and used butyl tape. The holes are large enough to use flat-head machine screws which are bolted with nuts and flat washers underneath. Taper the hole in the top of the deck with a countersink and make a tiny donut of butyl tape and put in each taper. Hold the top of the bolt stationary, and only tighten the nut. This will squeeze the butyl donut into the threads of the bolt and seal it.
