Excellent. No problem, I like to think it might help someone sometime.

Re: Nauticat 52 Refit

Aft section glassed up. That little reveal around the secondary winch bases was a bitch.

Reveal in question. Hard to hand lam that many plies over a small radius and fillet close together. Came out nice though. This is still rough, just pulled peel ply here, no sanding yet.

Next piece. I was trying to keep it really simple, in part to encourage others, but decided to vacuum bag the core henceforth. It just gives better results, though it takes longer.

Re: Nauticat 52 Refit

Area of deck in question gets all screw holes filled and sanded with bondo. This is to make it air tight for bagging. Otherwise air would be introduced under the core through the screw holes.

Re: Nauticat 52 Refit

The butyl is never torn, only the paper backing is ripped to allow it to make corners. One piece all the way around, except for pleats and closeout.

Re: Nauticat 52 Refit

Bleeder in place, ready to bag. I use many different bleeders for different purposes. This one is screen door mesh, much cheaper than "official" bleeder material and works better. Awesome for core, no perf or peel ply needed and it bleeds like a stuck hog, killer even bag pressure.

Re: Nauticat 52 Refit

Quart and a half of core bond. The back side of the core has been flood coated twice with thinned resin. 1/4" notched spreader used to trowel core bond on deck side only.

Bag on. Note the pleats. Gauge is always installed on the opposite side of the bag from the sucker foot.

Very simple bag, but a nice one. Check the squeezeout.
