Mounting Bilge Pumps

Rather than screwing them into a (would base plate be the correct term) as Rule recommends.

Is there any reason to not skip the screws, and just 5200, Life Calk, epoxy, etc. them directly to the bilge?

I figure you're still not drilling holes in your bilge (GOOD), doing a lot less work, and you're getting the pump lower (dryer bilge).

You mean other than they fail too often and getting em back out would be a pain?

Actually I did factor that in. Most pumps have removable bases anyway. Buy same model pump, snap old pump out, snap new pump into old pump's base.

Worst case. Can't find same pump. Scrape 5200 away. And 5200 new pump in place. About the same as drilling a few new holes/

Screw the pump to a piece of starboard or FG and glue that piece to the hull. No holes drilled in the hull and you can still unscrew the failed pump.
