hydraulic steering

refit a Randel 60, had a separate pump for the steering power assisted , Question,,,,why cant i get pressurized oil from one of my hydraulic gearboxes ?

The gearbox hydraulics won't have the flow rate that your steering needs. (Think how hard an autopilot works)
You might be able to put on a poly-V pulley somewhere and run an external pump for steering, and if you have two engines you could share the load and have a limp-home steering if half of the system goes down.

But some transmissions have facility to add on a Hydraulic steering pump. Maybe yours have this?
