How to remove Rust on Stainless Steel?

Have both Masts off of the Windseeker II. This Spring we are going to put them back on. Have had new Sheaves built in Florida for both Main and Mizzen. Lots of Rust on Spreader supports and Mast Caps and Boom Ends.
Any suggestions on how to make the metal look more brighter?

Any kind of metal polish for stainless steel works. If it is a highly polished surface Scotch-Brite for metal (burgundy colored pads) might scratch it.

spotless stainless works great. I find it works better if you can wrap the item in plastic or put it in a baggie and keep it from evaporating and let it sit a while. warmer temps work best.

Most metal polishes work great as well. I use Prism, but have used others with good results a well.

Bartenders Friend and 0000 stainless steel wool, wash well and air dry, works for me! it takes a little more effort but it's way less expensive!! little things like this let us cruise a little cheaper ! LOL

Bar Keepers Friend is a powdered cleaning product made by SerVaas Laboratories in Indianapolis, Indiana.[1] It's been produced since 1882, and was invented by a chemist in Indianapolis, where the product continues to be manufactured.[2] It has since become the base of a line of cleaning products by SerVaas, who started producing and carrying the product under the Bar Keepers Friend name in the 1950s. Unlike similar abrasive cleaning products, such as Comet and Ajax, Bar Keepers Friend uses oxalic acid as its active ingredient.
In 1994, Consumer Reports found Bar Keepers Friend to be on a par with Mr. Clean for removing baked-on soil, tea stains and other pot stains, and better at removing rust. While recommending Bar Keepers Friend for a variety of household cleaning uses, author Heather Solos warns that it should not be used to clean silverware, real marble, or pewter.[3]
The logo of Bar Keepers Friend represents the swinging doors of a saloon. According to the President of SerVaas Laboratories, Robert Silvers, although some people complained during Prohibition, "the name was never changed. It's been Bar Keepers Friend since 1882."

Collinite certainly works but it relies on the stainless being in reasonable shape to start with. It does a great job on any boat that gets a stainless makeover once a year or less. I use it on my bimini frame.

If the stainless has not been touched in a few years then something more powerful is needed. This 3m product does the trick.

Not sure if this works on stainless but it certainly works on painted steel,
the product is Citric acid in a powdered form(yes the stuff used in cooking) buy in in pool/spa/hot tubs stores in larger quantities fairly cheap.

I used to sell it to the fishing fleet in 15kg tubs they used it to clean the boat and remove all the stains

try a bit out of your pantry first
