How to determine night test chain by visual inspection

I have a source of twice used 5)16 chain. I need 5/16 high test chain for my windlass. Is there a way to tell if the chain is 5/16 grade 43 by inspection

Typically look for a G4 on the link.

You can measure the link size. HT has specific dimensions vs BBB chain.... the dimensions are available online.

Thanks. While we're here if I'm using 5/16 high test chain what size snubber and what size Rhode backing? Should I go by swl ?

We’re using 5/8” rhode with out 5/16” HT chain.

The snubber is deferent. Our deep water snubber is 5/8” 8-plait. While our shallow water snubber is 1/2” three strand. The shallow water snubber is for anchoring when our keel is 1-5’ off the bottom and the longer snubber would be dragging on the bottom. The shallow snubber is shorter, so I used lighter line to allow more stretch.
