Help with anode location BMW D35-2

Hi i have recently purchased a Mangrove Jack 28 it has a BMW D35-2 twin cylinder heat exchanged engine in it chasing the anode location on this motor. Know the raw water ones this is not that it has the heat exchanger set up.
Cheers

BMW D35/D50 Workshop Manual https://bmwmarine.com/media/d35_d50_work_man.pdf

The following comments are for Raw Water cooled engines:

“BMW D50 raw water. The anodes are screwed into the head and the block.”

“On the block rear port side just behind and below the exhaust manifold there will be what looks like a bolt and should have a blue dot on it. That's one of the zinc pencil anodes. The other is in the head on the same corner just above the bell housing bolt next to the freeze plug also should be marked with a blue dot . This is for the D50 I'm not sure if they are there in the D50-2 ( fwc model)”

Re: Help with anode location BMW D35-2

Thanks for the reply Gord had found that link previous and been through it knew about the raw water anode location was thinking that with the dual closed circuit system on the D35-2 that there would be other pencil anodes somewhere but can find no reference to them. Did a search for previous links and read them but no joy. Will keep hunting hard to find anyone with knowledge of those motors here in Aus have tried to contact overseas companies with not much success.

Cheers

I’ve read* that BMW D35/D50 engines were based on industrial Hatz diesels, then marinized by BMW Marine.

^^^^
Yes, the D35 and 50 were based on Hatz engines and the folks at Hatz were somewhat helpful twenty five years ago when I had one. Mine was raw water cooled, so can't help with your anode question, but it was a very sturdy engine and pretty smooth for a two banger. Ours had over 6000 hours when we sold the boat and was still running fine. Only issues were salting up in the coolant passages, something you won't have to deal with!
