Electric 1/2 " drive Impact Wrench. Available in corded or cordless.

If you own a boat that you may have to repair, get one of these.-any brand is better than not having one. / Len

Use oxy gas heat you may have to get the nut red hot

There ya go. When excessive force doesn't do the trick, there's always the flaming ratchet!

Also, a slugging wrench might be a good idea, especially if an impact wrench won't fit.

Agreed on this. I have a 1/2" Makita 18V impact. It has more breakaway torque than my 1/2" Ingersoll Rand pneumatic. I have yet to meet a nut it won't spin off.

First time I used it I was looking for the nastiest, rustiest thing I could find. Saw my trailer hitch and decided that was it. The ball has been on there for 15 years in New England.

The nut came off so fast it rolled down the driveway, I just laughed. So then I ran it back on to the ball using my biggest pneumatic air gun and let it rattle for 10 seconds. The Makita backed it off like nothing. I'm not impressed very often by tools but those big impacts are serious tools. Love mine.

Much safer than trying to swing a huge wrench with the torque. The impacts break the rust bond.
