Foam For Insulation And Soundproofing

I have a ton of foam left from my old cushions and I'm thinking about how I can reuse it.The foam cushions are 1" of closed cell foam and 1" of open celled foam glued together.

Is this material good for soundproofing or insulation? Or, would I just be wasting my time? And, is this just too thick? maybe another material would be better?

Areas I'm thinking of are the engine rooms, generator compartment, Air conditioning compartment... around all the refridgerators and freezers... maybe even under the floor to help hold in the warmth in the cold winter...

I usually cut it up into small strips and squares and use it to pack between provisions cans bottles spare parts anything they may go clonk bang as the boat rolls in a seaway

Re: Foam For Insulation And Soundproofing

Would it be fireproof? Would it give off toxic fumes if burnt?

Re: Foam For Insulation And Soundproofing

I’d imagine that it burns into a toxic mess
