Re: Barnacle removal without scraping

I thought this forum dead as received no email advising responses until yesterday with

JessicaLovely has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to titled - Barnacle removal without scraping - in the Construction, Maintenance & Refit forum of Cruisers & Sailing Forums.

But nowhere can i find it.
Anyway not it is not near the batteries but along th whole hull so I bit the bullet and gave up environmental concerns to cut back below water line before coating with epoxy and then antifouling. A loal shipewright said he had noticed this marking on boats in last couple of years.

This was a spam account peddling adult services. Seems either "barnacle" or "scraping" seems to be something of relevance to her services. The account has been removed.

If you have the boat out of the water, vinegar does a great job at loosening them.

With the pressure from the washer, pushing you away.
I don't paint, just free scrape with a wetsuit, every 6 months.

Sent from my iPad SV Cloud Duster

Underwater this works to keep you close to the boat. Not joking.

23$? Cheap?

I am using my 5€ plumbing device like the one above for years now...

On a side note and not relating to the two devices shown above those suction cup devices with a lever used for carrying glass do not work well under water.

That's what I meant sorry, you use the cheap multi purpose version compared to the special boat shop thing!

But, meh it's only €14... If it was easier on your wrist it might be worth it

Cheap, comfortable, last for years. Easy replacement of business end when needed.

There are custom handles designed for use in sea water I have been using one of these for years.

Mine was branded from Westmarine, no idea how much it cost. The flip catches can be operated by one hand and make for easy stick and release.

I would leave the barnacles as they are.
