Antifouling & sterntubes

Hi all.
We are launching our boat sometime next year & I have a question about antifouling relating to inside the stern tube & the propeller shaft inside the stern tube.
Not having any experience with this before I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on the subject, if it is necessary or not.

Thanks
David

No you don't need to anti-foul in there. It's too dark and dingy for anything to grow in there. Plus it's too hard to get at to paint every haul.

I agree, don't do it. No gain but much hassle. I've pulled many stern tubes & shafts over the years & have never had a issue with fouling. Painting does have the potential to block up any water lube ports for mechanical seals etc. which would be bad.

That's good, I'll cross that off the things to do list. Thanks for the advice.
