Aluminum Tanks and Tank Sensors

I am looking at potentially using a Maretron Submersible Pressure Transducer (PTS-0-1.5PSI-01) or similar transducer to monitor both a water and a diesel tank. The concern I have is that the tanks are aluminum, and the sensors are stainless. I know having dissimilar metals touching each other can cause some issues, and there are ways to get around this. However, do I also need to worry about galvanic corrosion in the tanks if the sensors (stainless) are in either water or diesel but not actually touching the tanks (aluminum) but where they might be 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the bottom of the tank?

Re: Aluminum Tanks and Tank Sensors

I acknowledge it is not what you are planning, but if you have not yet committed Tech-Edge have PVC rod sensors. I have been happy with their iSeries system for all my tanks (Diesel, water, waste).

Good luck! Cheers

Re: Aluminum Tanks and Tank Sensors

It might be worth writing to them to see if they have more information and technical data on the sensors they are selling, ultimately I would like to connect the sensors to a Victron Cerbo GX with a Tank 140 module. This works with standard sensors that output 04-20ma.

I am also interested in knowing the answer to this.

Did you (OP) ever get feed back from Tankedge on this?
