Yanmar 4JH3E Workshop Manual Required

Hi Guys,
I noticed several months back that someone had a copy of the workshop manual for pulling apart a normally aspirated Yanmar 4JH3E diesel engine. This was in a .pdf format.
I have a parts manual for the same. in .pdf format. I am willing to "swop" if anyone is interested?

Re: Yanmar 4JH3E Worshop manual required

Hello Delmarrey. Glad to cross you. I'm Paul, 27 years at Papeete, left in 2007, now in Corsica, Bastia, with a 42,2 SO. I am just getting over a cylinder head job on my Yanmar 4JH3E 1997 9000 hours. I am searching a bolts torque chart for this engine. Any clue ? Thank's a lot, Paul.

Re: Yanmar 4JH3E Workshop Manual Required

Hello there. I am Flechter7 and I received your full good help repairing my Yanmar 4JH3E 1997, 9000 hours blocked.
I need now to reset my injection pump timing.
Any help would be fully appreciated. Thank you so much.

Yanmar 4JH3E Workshop Manual Required

Hi Fletcher7
Resetting the injection timing totally depends on how the pump was removed. The usual way is to rotate the engine to TDC (or injection pre TDC) while the pump is still in place , remove the gear coverplate and mark the position of the pump gear relative to the timing cover with a white paint pen. Then the nut can be undone and the timing gear pulled off the taper and the pump withdrawn ( carefully!! don’t drop the little key or jostle the gear set), refitting is the reverse. The gears should be in the same position and your paint marks should precisely re align. Because the pump is keyed to the gear, care needs to be taken to get the key into the gear keyway.
Now I know your engine was blocked so the TDC option was not available and the key could be anywhere other than the top but it still should go together ok because the key is a very tight fit in the pump shaft.
Option B is less appetising, if the timing is lost completely you are really committed to taking off the timing cover and re setting ALL the timing marks. I’ll post the page from the service manual if required.
There is another option called spill timing but see if you can get the pump back in again first, maybe she’ll start right up......Hoping!

Re: Yanmar 4JH3E Workshop Manual Required

Hello Pete. Hope you are fine, thank you for your fast answer. The pump has not been remove. Still at is place, engine starts perfectly. The problem is that combustion is not burning properly, combustion is not warm enough, and I need to increase ignition advance until I reach perfect combustion. I need turn the pump clockwise until I reach a perfect combustion.I already slipped pump down of one and half mark, and smoke is still here.Progress have been made, engine temperature did increase faster and higher. I need to send you position marks of the pump.Best regards, Paul.

Re: Yanmar 4JH3E Workshop Manual Required

You’re getting into uncharted waters with randomly adjusting injection timing to solve a combustion problem . What color is the exhaust smoke?
The correct procedure establishes the precise point that injection occurs (although if an auto advance is fitted this changes) and is not negotiable.
Pete.
