Yanmar 2QM15 Primary filter

This might be a dumb topic but I have a small issue with the primary filter for my Yanmar 2QM15 engine. I need to replace/clean it but I do not have switch off valve after tank to easily get access to filter. The tank is higher than filter so technically if I undo the copper pipe from the filter housing the fuel will be all over the place. Does anyone have a solution to this? Please see picture attached..

In emergencies,people use a pair of vice grips on rubber hose, if there is any upstream. Of course, you risk damaging the hose. You could remove the fuel line at the tank end and plug it up. Or, still remove up by the tank and install a shut-off valve, though you really probably want to install one down by the filter for convenience while you are going through the effort.
