Volvo Penta part nr 3581834

Hi everybody,

I'm doing this for a friend who is underway to Grenada.

Apparently he needs a "Volvo Penta part nr. 3581834 MS-25 L-A ratio 2.27 serial 5025 02 40903 gear inverter" sent to Grenada where he is supposed to be arriving in a few days.

Would anybody know what exactly that is? And where to buy it? Unfortunately I cannot reply to his messages while he is underway. I googled it but I could not figure out what exactly the part is he needs.

Thank you very much for any help!
Florian

Alright, thanks!

Now I know what it is.

Will have to talk the Volvo Dealer in Grenada to get one of these.

Thank you Carsten!

Re: Volvo Penta part nr 3581834

The 3581834 is a marine transmission sold by VP. It has a horizontal output shaft (designated by the "L" in the model nomenclature - MS 25 L) and its reduction ratio is 2.27:1. This can be sourced from a VP dealer such as "marine parts express" in Maine, USA.

This reverse gear is actually built by ZF Marine and sold by ZF as a model ZF25M. The two reverse gears are basically the same, but there is one important difference......the dimensions of the output shaft flange bolt pattern and pilot dimensions differ. The ZF output shaft basically conforms to SAE norms while the VP pattern matches that of a prior production VP gear. So, if you were to substitute the ZF gear you would also have to supply a new prop shaft coupling to match the new gear. ......which is not really a big deal.

Hope this helps.

Re: Volvo Penta part nr 3581834

I do have a nice spare Hurth(ZF) 250. I find the original cost horredus, like all VP parts. Shipping to Grenada is another story... The shaft coupling is also there.
