Volvo penta ms2a-d gearbox

Hi I am asking for a friend who does not have the internet, he has lost forward drive from his Volvo penta ms2a-d gearbox it goes in gear but has no forward motion reverse is fine, I have seen a post on here where someone had a similar issue with reverse
Does anyone have any suggestions

Just to add the cable was removed and still the same no forward drive
