Transmissions

Be sure to know the commercial rating of any transmision on any engine that you buy. Several friends bought new engine packages from Detroit Diesel Allison which had a 30hp diesel with a hurth 50 transmission . For continuous use that tranny is rated at only 18 HP and the friends had their trannys crap out in less than 60 hours. Detroit Diesel Allison said that the rating on their trannys were for pleasure boats only and that no pleasure boat would ever motor for more than 12 hours continuously.Despite the fact that all boats were strictly pleasure boats ,no one recieved a penny of compensation and all had to buy new trannys at their own expense.
