Hi there. I am going to change engine and gearbox oils and filters in the first time . I couldn't understand what is the filter doing this part of gearbox.I am confused cause it's a ... fuel filter. Thanks a lot in advance

Hi There,

Basically it would appear some one has installed the wrong filter at some stage previously!

Saying that there's not much difference in a fuel or oil filter apart from the micron size of the filter medium with in the filter, fuel filters have much finer media such as 2 micron up to 5 or 10 depending on there location in the fuel system,

Many marine gear boxes use the same oil as the engine and therefore a normal engine oil filter would be the normal choice. Cheers Steve
