Thornycroft 90

Hi there. I am going to change engine and gearbox oils and filters in the first time . I couldn't understand what is the filter doing this part of gearbox.I am confused cause it's a ... fuel filter. Thanks a lot in advance Click image for larger version

Hi There,

Basically it would appear some one has installed the wrong filter at some stage previously!

Saying that there's not much difference in a fuel or oil filter apart from the micron size of the filter medium with in the filter, fuel filters have much finer media such as 2 micron up to 5 or 10 depending on there location in the fuel system,

Many marine gear boxes use the same oil as the engine and therefore a normal engine oil filter would be the normal choice. Cheers Steve
