Re: Reduced Seawater Circulation in Volvo MD2030

I have sail drives. I use the stainless steel blade out of a windshield wiper for reaching into the sail drives. I have a very small radius bend on one end, and it's flat on the other. I have pulled whole crabs from way up inside the leg. Make sure you clean out above the intakes also, and give it time for items to fall out, not be sucked into the system........i2f

Re: Reduced Seawater Circulation in Volvo MD2030

I have saildrives (Yam SD20s on 3GM30 engines)

One of them runs hot because I cant shut the Yanmar gate valve from the leg and thus fill the saltwater strainers . Thus the engine can never get enough water to stop a degree of steam out of the engine exhaust.

Guess what I am going to do next time boat is out of the water.

Isolate the SD20 leg pickups and fit new marelon through hulls and gate valves!
