Re: Raw Water Pump Leak

Here's a brake down of the pump. The seal that is leaking is # 11. You'll also need # 22 gasket to remount the pump.

11) YN# 119773-42560
22) YN# 129150-01881

I'm not sure how water would get pass the seal #14 and two bearings #10, unless it were submerged.
A spare pump is nice for a quick change out, but more for off shore where you just can't anchor/tie up and do the rebuild.

Re: Raw Water Pump Leak

I'm currently doing my Sherwood F85 right now. the bearing and seal kit was $112. When I got the kit I priced out the bearings and seal at the bearing shop...$30 for everything. So I'm going to have a home made kit as a back-up

While you have it apart, you should replace the oil lip seal (#14) also. You will probably destroy it removing the water lip seal. Just remember the orientation before you remove them and don't put them in backwards. They should face the direction of the fluid they are sealing.

It says "misprint" but I believe it was the old style carbon ring with a ceramic seat. #15 in the parts list says lip seal.

Re: Raw Water Pump Leak

I was wondering if the #11 in the original drawing was a misprint and the #11 and #15 up top was the way things are. The main drawing for #11 doesn't look right to me, but what do I know...
