Thanks Wotname. I am not at the boat and so cannot yet determine if either of those plugs will work, but they do look promising. It is hard for me to tell from the photo if they are upstream or downstream of the water flow through the engine block. The one closest to the thermostat housing seems to be the most promising. I hope to return to the boat in later October or early November, prepping for a new season of cruising, depending on outcome of the pandemic forecast following the Presidential election and progress toward an effective vaccine. Whenever I next see our beloved boat I will pursue this lead you sent and will let you know the outcome. btw, where do you get a Yanmar Service Manual?

I can't recall exactly where I found the 3YM30 manual but it was from a link that someone on CF had posted in some thread or another.

If no one else posts the link on this thread, I can email you a copy (it's about a 18Mb pdf file). PM me with your email address if you wish.
