Perkins 4108

Hello again guys,
My Perkins 4108 on a Seamaster 27 has 3 dipsticks. One is (obviously) for the engine. The other two are on the gearbox, but I can only see one filler plug. Advice appreciated, and what type of oil to use? Thanks.

Re: Perkins 4108

If you send me your email via PM, I can send you a PDF of the owners manual for the tranny. It's most probably a velvet drive and uses ATF fluid. I have the same one.

Re: Perkins 4108

Can I add my email to this as well kbudd? I also have a 4108 with a velvet drive. I need to change the gear fluids (b/c it hasn't been done in a while).

Re: Perkins 4108

I just have one dipstick on the velvet drive on the 4-108. I use that dipstick tube to pump the ATF fliud out and then add new.

Re: Perkins 4108

My Perkins 4-107 has two dipsticks. One on each side plus the one in the little short one in the velvet drive. It's handy becuase when they built the block they didn't know what would be convenient. You could plug one, but why?
