New Engine Gauges VDO ok?

I am having my Perkins 4-108 engine wiring harness re-done and its time to install new Gauges, tach, oil volt, temp etc. It has been recommended and from a cost stand point to go with a new set of VDO gauges. Do I really need to stick with the SW gauges? a new SW tach is a couple hundred dollars and needs a few weeks to order.

Advice on the purchase of new VOD gauges. Should I buy?

Thanks
Capt. Randy

Any good gauges that are compatible with the senders are fine. There's nothing special about VDO

I think the people at VDO might have a problem with that statement. As indicated you need to make sure that your old senders are compoatible with any new gauges your contemplating. If they have to be changed over it will figure in the overall cost of the project.

I didn't mean anything particular , VDO make a good gauge., so do many other vendors. That's all

I had and twin outboard powered cat some years ago I used vdo gauges The trim gauge i bought was not compatable with the sender from the motor manufacter actually worked backwards. A call to vdo and they custom built 2 trim gauges for me at no cost they get an a+ from me

Re: New Engine Gauges VDO ok?

I bought a complete set of digital gauges from an airo parts house for under $200. Oil, Water, Tachometer and Voltmeter.

Comes with sender adapters, had no problems with my 4108 since it was used in more farm equipment than marine use..
