Re: Brand New Yanmar smoking and acting sluggish

Well, let me be the first to state the obvious. On a new engine there is a warranty.

CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER!!!!!

Go directly to the installer or distributor, or authorized agent. These engines should not smoke! Don't muck up the situation any further.

Let me repeat. CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER!!... Don't use internet "experts", get a real expert, authorized by Yanmar.

Geezzz....

You're not the first Redsky, post number 2 was the first.

Edit, correction, "Yanmar certified shop" was the phrase used.

And post number 24 suggested contacting the installer.

Re: Brand New Yanmar smoking and acting sluggish

I had a 4JH4E with similar simptoms. It started creating oil. Turns out there was an intermittent problem with the fuel injection pump. I couldn't get it figured out till well after the warranty. Make sure that you document the problem so that it can be considered a warranty issue. It cost me $2500 with me doing all of the work. It would smoke white after getting above 1800 rpm's. Not sure that is the problem with yours but worth considering.

I have had diesels where the sump oil levels increased. That is, diluted with fuel.
