Beta 43 vs Yanmar 3JH noise levels?

(I did some searching, so if this has been discussed and I missed it, my apologies)

My Universal M50 (Kubota v1902) has died a sad death and I am looking for a new engine for my Tashing Baba 40 (Full keel, 30K lbs displacement). We are narrowed down to either the Beta 43 (Kubota v2003, 4 cyl 43 hp@2800 RPM) or the Yanmar 3JH5E (3 cyl 39 hp @3000 RPM.) The 4 cyl Yanmar won't fit so it was eliminated from consideration.

My question has to do with noise and engine "note". Our Universal is unpleasantly loud when motoring and tended to vibrate the whole boat. Can anybody comment on the volume and sound of the Beta vs. the Yanmar? Should I expect the new Beta to be any quieter or vibrate less than the old Universal M50?

thanks,
Dave.
