So, in conclusion,2QM15 uses KBW 10 trans, 3QM30 and 3QM and 2QM use KH18 trans and 2QM20 uses another trans the model number of which I'm unsure. I'm now the proud owner of a KH18 which is of no use to me but no doubt someone will pay me good money for it some day.
Cheers

Re: Ancient Yanmar 2QM15

Further information on QM gearboxes.... I sat down and waded through all the parts diagrams for the Q series Yanmars. What I've concluded is that the 3QM30, the 2QM and 3QM share common gearboxes and bell housings etc. The 2Qm20 has its own unique bellhousing but there are also two variations of the of the KBW10 gearboxes, or at least the cases are different. One has ribs at 90 degrees to shaft and the other on same plane. The 2QM15 which I have requires a unique bell housing (transmission flange) which mates the KBW10 to the engine. So my next challenge is to find the right part 177080-02030. Any leads will be much appreciated (in Aus or NZ). Would consider bell-housing and gearbox or just bell-housing.

Re: Ancient Yanmar 2QM15

I dunno if this helpful or not but I have seen gearboxes described as KBW10 and also KBW10A - I assume there is a difference but maybe it is lazy writing!
